Inspect, Test, and Maintain (ITM) Fire Protection Systems

Fire alarms, sprinklers, and suppression systems protect lives and property—but only if they're properly maintained. The Rock Community Fire Protection District requires all fire protection systems to undergo regular inspection, testing, and maintenance.

What is ITM?

Inspect, Test, and Maintain keeps your fire protection systems reliable:

  • Inspect: Visual check for damage and proper operating condition
  • Test: Physical testing to verify the system works as designed
  • Maintain: Routine work to prevent equipment failures

Why This Matters

Regular ITM ensures your systems work when you need them most. It protects lives, helps firefighters respond safely, keeps you compliant with fire codes, and minimizes property damage.

For Property Owners

You are responsible for maintaining compliant fire protection systems:

  1. Hire a qualified contractor to perform required inspections
  2. Verify your contractor submits ITM reports through the First Due Service Provider Portal
  3. Repair any deficiencies promptly to remain compliant

For Service Providers

We will be using First Due for all ITM report submissions: (Setup is being finalized now).

  • Submit reports digitally through the First Due Service Provider Portal (link will be provided).
  • Paper and email reports will not be accepted

Common Questions

How often do I need an ITM inspection?

Frequency depends on your system type. NFPA standards and the ICC codes will determine the frequencies of inspections.

What if my system fails inspection?

You'll be notified of deficiencies. Work with your contractor to make repairs and submit a corrective action report through the portal.
