Fire Victim Gets To Thank Rescuers
At a recent Board of Directors meeting, a crew award was given for two Rock Community fire crews who demonstrated efficiency and teamwork to affect the rescue of Delmer Uptegrove from his burning home on Terrace View Drive in Arnold on December 24th, 2011. Kara Lewis, a dispatcher from Jefferson County 911, also received an award for her hard work and diligence in receiving and dispatching the call. Mr. Uptegrove was at the ceremony and delivered a very touching thank you to all the rescuers. Rock Community Fire Protection District is privileged to have awarded these brave and diligent servants of the public.
The Rock Community Fire Protection District is looking for CERT TEAM Members
The CERT Program is designed to train adult members of the community the basic needs to take care of their family and neighbors in the event of a disaster. CERT members are then used to assist in the event of an emergency.
If a disaster overwhelms our public safety departments, CERT members can assist by applying the basic response and organizational skills they have learned during training. These skills can help save and sustain lives following a disaster until help arrives. CERT skills also apply to daily emergencies.
C.E.R.T training is designed to cover the following: Disaster Preparedness, Fire Safety, Disaster Medical Operations, Light Search and Rescue, Team Organization, Disaster Psychology, and Terrorism. The C.E.R.T training course consists of 20 hours of class time, with a final exercise which ties all the training together.
The training class will be held on Friday, March 9th from 6pm until 10pm, Saturday March 10th from 8am until 5pm and Sunday March 11th from 8am until 5pm at Rock Community Fire Protection District"s Headquarters at 3749 Telegraph Road, Arnold, MO 63010.
If you are interested in participating in this free training course or for more information, please call the Rock Community Fire Protection District 636-296-2211, ext. 732 or email the CERT Team Leader, Michael Roth at: mikerroth@juno.com
